Privacy

The short version — this site counts page views without a cookie and knows nothing else about you, and the plugin collects nothing at all about your shop. The longer version is below, including the parts that are not zero.

Updated 2026-10-14

This website

No cookies. Nothing is stored in your browser, so there is no consent banner — there is nothing to consent to.

One analytics beacon, and it is cookieless. This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without setting a cookie, without fingerprinting your browser and without any identifier that could follow you to another site. It reports aggregates — how many people opened which page, roughly where from, which browser — and nothing that identifies you. There is no heatmap, no session recording and no advertising pixel.

That is also the reason there is no consent banner: cookieless, non-identifying measurement does not require one. Cloudflare’s own statement on what it does and does not collect is at cloudflare.com/web-analytics.

Search numbers are read separately from Google Search Console, which reports on search results rather than on your visit and requires nothing on this site beyond a proof that we own the domain.

Everything else comes from this domain. The fonts, the images and the styles are served from here; there are no third-party embeds, iframes or advertising scripts. The analytics beacon above is the only request a page makes to somebody else’s server.

Server logs. The web server records requests in the ordinary way — IP address, time, the URL requested, the user agent — because a server that logs nothing cannot be defended against abuse. Those logs are used for exactly that, kept short, and never combined with anything else.

Email

If you write to contact@merchgain.com, the message and your address sit in a mailbox at a European hosting provider. It is read, answered and kept so that a later message has context.

It is not added to a mailing list; there is no mailing list. If you asked to be told when the plugin is published, that note is used for that one message and then it is done. Ask and it is deleted.

The plugin

Merchgain runs entirely on your own hosting:

  • no outbound connections at all — no account, no sign-up, no licence check, no telemetry, no usage statistics, no update ping of its own;
  • no data collection. Your orders, costs, margins and product names never leave your server, because nothing sends them anywhere. The one exception is your own choice: an AI assistant you connect to your store can read the report, and what it asks for goes to that assistant (answers for AI assistants);
  • what it stores in your database: its own options and cached query results. Both are removed when you uninstall it.

WordPress itself contacts wordpress.org to check for plugin updates. That is the WordPress updater, for every plugin on your site, and it is not something this plugin does or can switch off.

How to verify all of that rather than believe it is described in does any data leave my server.

Your rights

Since this site holds no personal data beyond server logs and any email you chose to send, there is little to exercise rights over — but the rights exist. Write to contact@merchgain.com to ask what is held about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Answers come within a day, from a person.

Changes

This page is dated at the top. If a form, another analytics tool or an embedded video ever appears on this site, this page changes on the same day — a privacy policy that describes last year’s site is worse than none. The cookieless beacon described above was added on 4 September 2026, and this page was rewritten in the same commit.
